There seems to be an interest about Omega, his work, and where he came from. This is information I found in “El Listin Diario’”, the most prestigious newspaper in the island. The article talks about Omegas’ private life as well. Here, my intention is just to show more of his work and his life. Omega continues to be the icon of urban merengue regarless of critics.
His life
Antonio Peter de la Rosa (his real name) was born 29 years ago in Bonao, but it grew and forged his way of expression in Pantoja, one of the neighborhoods that grew following the reorganization developed urban Joaquín Balaguer in the 90s in the center of the capital city. In this area live their parents, Ercilia de la Rosa and Sergio Peter, humble people who raised her son to work base. It also has three older sisters, procreated by his mother in another marriage. Since very little knew what was making a living. He once confessed that his father woke up at four o’clock to go to work in agriculture.
When I was a teenager became interested in boxing, to the selection of youth soccer.
At the same time develop their artistic skills and 13 years formed his first rap group. Then appeared in some television programs and participated in and won talent contests with the Alpha and Omega. Hence its name. Later he formed his group Mambo Violento with which he recorded his first “Omega mambo violent.”
For two years their Merengues started to go by word of mouth to leave the “ghetto” and become the symbol of the so-called urban merengue, which became a part of the group of artists who pioneered the reelection of President Leonel Fernández.
