NY Yankees reliever Damaso Marte to begin rehab assignment Thursday
Yankees relief pitcher Damaso Marte, who has spent most of the season on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, will start a minor league rehab assignment Thursday with the rookie level Gulf Coast League Yankees.
The left-hander Marte, who entered the season in the mix as one of the Yankees’ top set-up men, threw 35 pitches in a two-inning bating practice session on Tuesday. He has been on the DL since May 3 with a shoulder injury that stemmed from his time with the Dominican Republic’s national team at the World Baseball Classic.
