Something has to be done.

When we think of death, we think of something so not close to us and most of us refuse to face reality…It’s all a matter of time.
12 days ago I lost one of my best friends, and there’s a feeling of emptiness that comes with the loss of a loved one that I never knew existed. My 23 year old friend was driving home from Jarabacoa and in the highway he ran into a truck, with no lights. If you have ever driven in this highway I don’t even have to tell you that there are NO LIGHTS in it, that the motorcycles drive around and you only see them when you are almost hitting them and that if your car breaks down, you my friend, are at risk of being robbed, hit by a car or killed.
When I heard the news about my friend I was really sad, but when I asked what had really happened, I was furious. He had an accident, the people that came to help him ended up taking his wallet and his cell phone, and NOBODY came to help. His mother was in Santo Domingo when someone called and by the time she got there my dear friend was dead. No Ambulance, no police. She had called 911 where she was told to ” cojerlo suave” and still my friend, her son, was lying there. When the firefighters got there they didn’t know how to take his body out of the car, so his father had to carefully remove his dead son out of the vehicle. I don’t believe any human being should have to go through something like that.
There are no ambulances on the highways in DR, my friend was meant to go that day, but maybe, just maybe, it could have been prevented.
Now I ask… Where is the money going to? who are we training to work for the 911, and how? Why are there no lights in the highways?
Something has to be done to protect us, it is not possible that I could be dead on the street and someone will lift me up to take my wallet and not try to help me, is the economy really that bad? I don’t think so.
I know I can’t bring him back but I have to try and make sure things like this don’t happen again, someone has to do something…
RIP Stevens Almonte Troche you will be missed “De a’ duro”

I totally agree. That’s why future generations should be told to study and become good professionals so we, as a country, could make some progress and AT LEAST protect every resident’s life. I think it’s not THAT difficult, we just need some well-thought DECISIONS.
That is so unfair, and im very sorry about your friend.
