Santo Domingo .- The Dominican Republic men’s team qualifies for the World Championship in Japan after the two leading categories for men, during the Junior Golf Championships XXll the Caribbean, an event that was played this week at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Club of Jamaica.
Dominicans managed the feat, after finishing with an overall score of 930 strokes, 12 less than its closest follower, Trinidad & Tobago (942) and 13 below Puerto Rico (943), occupying the third position.

The Dominican Republic junior national golf team has won the XXII Caribbean Amateur Junior Golf Championship that took place at the Cinnamon Hill Golf Club in Montego Bay, Jamaica. The DR was first, Trinidad second, and Puerto Rico third. The Bahamas, Barbados, Cayman Islands and Jamaican teams also competed.

The Dominican Republic women’s national volleyball team has defeated the Brazilian team to remain undefeated in Pool B in the tournament. Brazil is seeded number one in the world and was the gold medalist at the Beijing 2008 Olympics. The DR is the defending champion at the tournament. The win earned the Dominican Republic a direct ticket to the semi final round of the competition, a qualifier for next year’s FIVB World Grand Prix.

La Romana, Dominican Republic — This is what’s great about the Dominican Republic. A lot of the arenas are named after athletes. Unlike Citi Field or Tropicana Field, you have Coliseo de Boxeo Pedro Julio Nolasco. It’s in La Romana and it’s a small open-air venue with a gym attached. It’s dedicated to the memory of Nolasco, who won a bronze medal at the 1984 Olympics, the first medal ever won by a Dominican boxer.
